This hanging valentine, also known as a drop valentine, includes four tiers of two hearts that overlap. The tiers are held together with yellow ribbon. The hearts are all decorated with yellow daisies and violets. The first tier depicts two Cupids, one flying, the other sitting on the ground beside sheet music and an elaborately decorated lute. The second tier depicts a man and a woman dressed in period garments, he in brown, she in peach, he with a tricorn hat and she with a large-brimmed hat tied with a ribbon around her neck. The other heart on this tier includes verse. The third tier depicts two Cupids, one flying, the other kneeling on a bench, holding a violin bow; in front of Cupid is a violin ornately decorated with flowers. The fourth tier depicts another couple, the man dressed in brown with a wig and the woman dressed in a pale blue dress with pink accents and a wide-brimmed hat with multi-colored plumes. Verse is written in the second heart on this tier. Verse for valentine reads: Fair Cupid sits with graceful mien/Thinking what he next will do/Perhaps he's come to take my heart/A willing offering to you.
