Reconstruction - P. A. Field Shoe Factory, Removing Ruins with Dynamite
During reconstruction, the Department of Public Works, under the direction of P. J. Kelly, used dynamite to level ruins to protect workers from injury during reconstruction. The first use of this practice was on the P. A. Field Shoe Factory at the corner of Mill and Canal Streets.
