The Boston and Maine Roundhouse was destroyed during the fire; it was originally located just behind the Salem Depot, which can be seen in the upper left section of the image. The remains of the Roundhouse were removed a week after the fire. Three hundred railroad cars, one of which housed dynamite, were relocated from the depot area before the fire reached this location.
