William Abbott was able to document the fact that firemen were fighting the fire on many fronts. This image, taken by him at 4:30 p.m., depicts the fire moving through the tenements on Roslyn Street between Canal and Lafayette Streets. As seen in the photograph, residents attempted to save items from their homes before the fire destroyed the wooden buildings.
