Clothing distribution was a major component of relief efforts after the fire. A clothing storehouse, set up in Franklin Hall, was organized by Mrs. J. Willard Helburn, a social worker who had also dealt with loss during the fire. Many adults looking for clothing were seeking children's clothing. Clothing was received at a central location; clothes were fumigated before becoming available to the public.
