Historical Sketch
Trout Brook Farm was built in the 1830s, 25 miles east of Chamberlain Dam, township 6 R.9, in Maine, by David Pingree and his business partner E. S. Coe. The purpose of the farm was to provide hay, oats, and produce for the animals and men working in the lumber trade for Pingree and Coe. The farm also served as a centrally located depot for equipment and other goods. Trout Brook Farm was not the only such farm built by Pingree and Coe, there was also Grant Farm and Chamberlain Farm, to name a few (Bennett 76).
