Scope and Content Note

This collection contains the papers of the Frye family including Salem, Massachusetts, shipmaster Nathan Frye (1787-1868). It has been organized into two series.


Series I. Nathan Frye (1787-1868) Papers contains shipping papers for the schooner Mac on its voyage to Cuba, Puerto Rico, and Texas, and includes miscellaneous shipping and household receipts.


Series II. Frye Family Papers includes estate papers of Nathan Frye (1755-1810), shoe cutting accounts of Daniels M. Frye, a letter dated 1830, from Oliver Frye to John N. Frye describing the Illinois Territory, a recipe for curing too much blood in the liver, and receipts for household renovations.


Biographical Sketch

Nathan Frye (1787-1868) was a Salem, Massachusetts, shipmaster.
